Why we keep a register.
AIST measures its work by where its learners end up. The register is how we record that, and how we stay in contact with people who have long since left Acornhoek.
It also supports the programmes directly. Tutors are recruited from the register, and alumni are invited to the annual get-together and to the astronomy presentation evening that closes MPASS each December.
Joining does not commit you to anything. A former learner working elsewhere in the country is exactly the outcome the programmes are designed to produce.
What the form asks.
Six fields. Your details are held by AIST, are not published, and are not shared with third parties. You may ask to be removed at any time.

Tutoring. Front-line tutors are alumni in their second year of university or later, matched to programmes by field of study. Alumni in Grade 12 or first year are welcome in support roles, and the Math Competition in June runs for a single day.
Alumni profiles.
We are collecting profiles of former learners now studying and working across South Africa. If you came through the programme, add yourself to the register and we will be in touch about featuring your story here.
Alumni events.
Astronomy presentation evening
Held at the close of MPASS each December, when Grade 11 learners present their astronomy work in pairs. Alumni are invited, and current learners meet people from Acornhoek who have gone on to university.
